Olympic Legacy

We run Dacorum Athletics Track - an 8-lane 400m floodlit track with clubroom, shower and toilet facilities. At the track you can get involved in all kinds of track and field events from 100m and 110m hurdles to events such as long jump and javelin. Though archery sessions aren’t run by us, you can still get involved locally by contacting the Berkhamsted Bowen. Email either contact@berkhamsted-bowmen.org.uk or chairman@berkhamsted-bowmen.org.uk for more information.



Inspired by the British success in the badminton? Why not come and improve your badminton skills with a coached course at Sportspace Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted or Tring? Or, if you just want to hire a court and play with friends, choose from one of our 24 badminton courts available for hire across our sites. More information can be found here.



For children, we run basketball courses at both Sportspace Kings Langley and Sportspace Berkhamsted of which more details can be found here. Adults can practice their jump shots and free throws by hiring their own courts at one of our Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted or Longdean centres, or, for the more serious basketball players, contact Hemel Storm Basketball to find out how to get involved with their club.


Beach Volleyball

Whilst it may not quite be the Copacabana beach in Rio, you can get involved in beach volleyball locally by contacting Herts Beach Volleyball club in St Albans.



There’s only one place to go for some real BMX action in Dacorum – XC. Their Skate and BMX park features the only covered concrete pool and bowl complex in the UK and 1:1 lessons are available for those that want to learn how to master the ramps on two wheels. Check out their website for more.

At Sportspace Hemel Hempstead we offer casual Diving sessions, Diving Crash Courses and Diving Lessons. Read here for more information.



Learn how to fence under the guidance of a trained coach with our adult or 16-25 fencing sessions at Sportspace Hemel Hempstead. We also offer courses for juniors aged 6 and above that want to get involved in the sport. All sessions are supported by British fencing.



Adult and junior Futsal leagues, private pitch hire, kids holiday camps and kick-about sessions are all available for those that want to take their love for the beautiful game from the couch to the pitch. Sessions run across various sites and more information can be found here



Whether you want to get your children into golf, want to play a round with friends or are after some professional tuition, Little Hay Golf Complex is the place to find exactly what you’re after when it comes to public golf.



The very place where double Olympic gold medallist, Max Whitlock, started his career, if you’re looking to get into gymnastics, there’s no place better than Sapphire School of Gymnastics.



Although there are no active handball clubs in Hertfordshire at the moment, if you’ve been inspired by the sport, contact our Sports Development Team with your interest who will then contact you as soon as local handball activities become available.



If like us you’ve been captivated by the Hockey in Rio, you’re probably wondering how you can get involved yourself? Berkhamsted & Hemel Hempstead Hockey Club and Tring HC are two fantastic local clubs who will help channel your interest in hockey to a love for playing the sport. Modern Pentathlon

Rugby – League

For anyone wanting to get involved in Rugby, check out the Hemel Stags, either through their website or by emailing mike.stewart@hemelstags.com



During the school holidays, Sportspace Berkhamsted run an ‘Intro to Target Shooting’ session aimed at children aged 8-13 years-old. This is an introductory shooting session which uses specialised laser equipment. We run these sessions in partnership with the Dacorum Modern Penthalon Club (http://modernpentathlon.org.uk/).



It's pretty hard not to be inspired by the heroics of the Team GB swim team in Rio, and if like many others, their performances have got you wanting to take to the water, then you need to take a look at the huge range of swimming activities we offer here at Sportspace. From toddlers to older adults, we have sessions and lessons to suit all ages and abilities - click here to find the right one for you. 


Synchro swimming

Sportspace run Synchronised Swimming lessons as part of their Swim School programme. Children must be competent and confident swimmers who hold their ASA Stage 7 award. They will work towards ASA Stage 8-10 Synchronised Swimming awards. During the school holidays there is also a Synchronised Swimming Workshop which is a good taster session into this sport.

Table Tennis

After a Wimbledon and Olympic gold double from Andy Murray, British tennis is on a high at the moment. If Andy’s exploits have encouraged you to pick up a racket then why not hire a tennis court at our Hemel Hempstead, Tring or Longdean sites? Spring into action with one of our Sportspace Hemel Hempstead or Sportspace Berkhamsted trampolining courses – available for both beginners and intermediates.



There’s no better time to get involved in Triathlon than now. 



Kings Langley volleyball club has been running for decades and is made up of both men’s and women’s players. If you’d like to get involved, check out their website.

Water polo

Sportspace Hemel Hempstead run a Waterpolo Workshop in the school holidays which is aimed at children aged 10-16 years of age who have completed their ASA Stage 4 award (or above) and are confident in deep water. This is a great taster session into this sport.
